March 2013: Successful Month See’s KL March On

March was a successful month for us, beating 2 Malaysian Super League teams on our way to the semi final and maintaining great results in the league with no less than 5 players making into the MPL team of the month award.

On losing 2 of our 6 games is quite an achievement, especially considering that Super league team Perak and Sembalian had to be contended with. Here’s the results of each game for this month.

A great month, and i can’t wait to bring on April where the FA Cup Semi’s will be played and some important league games.

It was a pretty easy choice for my Player of the month award and the winner for March is:

Mohd Azmi

Azmi has bee ever present for us this season and March was no exception. Leading by example Modh has put in several man of the match performance and is currently the clubs highest scorer. I hope he continues this form into April as he is a much deserved winner of this months Player of the month award.

GOAL OF THE MONTH:

My KL Goal of the month goes to

Modh Azmi: a Nicely taken free kick from out side the box

Posting Format, Some Questions

Hi All,

As i have been back into blogging my FM story i choose to post each game after it happens, almost one a day since i got fm13, and i seems like i am the only one doing this. Although it reads back as happening in real life time it also feels slow and uninteresting.

I have also noticed while perusing other players blogs that the most popular format is preseason, month to month, post season wrap often feature key moments of that month and exactly what went on during that month for you and your club. what makes this a popular format? why do you like to write this way? or even read this way?

How do you like to play and write your blogs? and how to you like to read others? summary’s? or loads of details?

I’m asking this cause I’m not confident that the way i am doing mine is easy or fun to read, and ussually copying the masses format would help keep the status quo.

Thanks for your time.

MPL: Match Day 13: Kuala Lumpur 5 Sime Darby 2

We welcomed Sime Darby to Kuala Lumpur for match day 13. Off the back of our win in the cup i was quietly confident of getting a good result against the 2nd from bottom Darby. I made 1 change going into the team bringing in Mat Isa for the regular left back Abdullah as i promised him games in the mid week chat and i am a man of my word.

I can’t fault my teams effort, although we let in 2 soft goals the performance was near perfection. This result cements our position at the top of the league and is excellent preparation for the FA Cup ties to come next week. We passed the ball well, used the space well and exploited the Darby weaknesses in the middle of defense.  My team were a joy to watch and once you see the goals i think you’ll agree.

My attention now turns to the FA Cup again were Super League team Perak await us. Important fixture needs lots of preparation so i must be off now to start my 1st training session since the game.

Malaysian FA Cup Quarter Final Draw.

Coming into work Monday morning i was eager to check my emails to see who we would get in the quarter finals of the FA Cup. It would be a quiet day around the club as i let the lads have the day off after yesterdays heroics i think they earned it.

In my inbox sat a brief email from the Malaysian FA with the complete draw for the FA Cup. I quickly scanned the email to find that we were drawn against another Malaysian Super League side Perak. The 1st leg to be played at home. Perak currently sit one place below the team we knocked out in the last round so i felt cautiously positive about getting a result against them.  The schedule has made it so that the legs are played consecutively. 1st leg on the Saturday the 2nd on the following Tuesday.

Considering the 3 day gap between the games i think it is crucial we win at home, that should set us up nicely to win the tie overall, anything else will be difficult. Before the Quarter final though we have a home game  against Sime Darby who currently sit second from bottom in the league. With our form at the moment i am hoping another win is on the cards.

MFAC: Match day 12: Kuala Lumpur 3 Negeri Sembilan 1

Today we played host to 6th placed Malaysian Super League side Negeri Sembilan in the 2nd round of the Malaysian FA Cup. This was a big game for us and our 1st real test to see exactly where we belong in the grander scheme of things.  With the 5 sub rule in place again and central midfield Rohan out due to suspension i was forced to make changes bringing Azmi (not the striker) in the midfield and dropping our back up keeper to make room, to make sure we had enough cover for the outfield players.

Seeing how the Sembilan lined up, I’ve played against this formation before so i knew that we has plenty of space and time wide, and i told the lads to exploit that from the 1st whistle. They did not disappoint.  Our boys were professional, hard working and clinical out classing Sembilan in all areas of the pitch. i couldn’t be prouder how how the lads played taking on my instructions and executing them to perfection. Come full time i had to pinch myself, we beat Sembilan  3-1 and we were the better team for the entire 90 mins. This result see’s us through to the quarter finals and a well earned Quarters birth i must say.

MPL: Match Day 11: Harimau Muda B 0 Kuala Lumpur 4

Match Day 11 saw us travel to bottom team Harimau in the league. 296 people turned out to see this game and all the pre match build up was directed at us getting a positive result. Which we delivered.  I made 2 changes to the team that lost narrowly last week bringing Shafie for Azmi on the wing and Zainal in defense for the out of form Mohtor.

We didn’t dominate this game as i would of liked from kick off and it did take us a while to get going. Once i saw Muda leaving gaps in their deference i was able to instruct the lads to play into it and look for overlapping runs. Although this didn’t spark them into action until the 1st goal went in, a wonderfully worked free kick from star man Azmi after 33mins.

Once the pressure was off the boys were able to play with freedom, dominating the game and duly dispatching Harimau with about 20 minutes to go. The only concern i had with this game is that i again had to take Azmi off at half time due to fitness . This predictably angered him. After the match i had a quiet word with him and sorted it out stating i needed to rest him in coming games to help with his development and that seemed to calm him down. although with a big FA Cup game coming up i might need him fit and firing if we are to progress.
